Sit down boys and girls and let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, actually it was a Wednesday; anyway, I decided to go on my lunch hour from work to the nearest Chinese buffet restaurant. I usually do not frequent the buffet lifestyle because I am afraid of what goes on behind closed doors, and the sneeze guard is just gross. I was happy to see that they had healthier fare to choose from, and sushi, so I filled my plate with steamed veggies, sushi and a dumpling or two. I sat down alone at my table, facing away from everyone because I just have this thing about people watching me eat, and something really brightly red caught my eye. It was in a Giant squeezy bottle, with a rooster on the front; I picked it up and read the label "Huy Fong Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce". Hmmm, a condiment that I haven't heard of, ME the so called Condiment Queen of Gainesville Florida. I squirted a bit on my plate, dipped my chopsticks in it and tasted it, GOOD LORD UP ABOVE, it was Huy Fong good, spicy...

Unbelievable - you gotta try it!
I'm a bit of spice hound and have flirted with other hot sauces before, but nothing has ever seized hold of me like Sriracha. An old Greenwich Village burger joint near where I worked at NYU used to serve it on the tables with popcorn and the combo was killer. The memory haunted me for years before I finally picked up a bottle. I shouldn't have waited. This stuff is amazingly addictive with a garlicky sweet hot yumminess that's hard to describe. It sits on my table in front of the salt and pepper and I've drained a bottle in a 3 month period. Incredible on eggs, superb on burritos, utterly transforms dull dietetic chicken vegitable dishes from the Chinese restaurant. I put a squirt in the health low-sodium soups instead of more salt and all of a sudden all the flavors perk up. Utterly highest recommendation.

The Premier Hotsauce.
I first ran across Sriracha (and am still uncertain how to pronounce it) while eating at a Vietnamese restaurant in California. It was given to me with a seafood entrée and I found that I kept squeezing the bottle and tasting the sauce separately with my fork. Its flavor is absolutely amazing. Yes, the other reviewers are quite correct, it is not a conveyer of great heat, but its texture and flavor are incomparable. I brought it back with me to Illinois and have about 6 of them in a cabinet--just in case I ever run short. I've turned at least 5 people onto it and now use it with chicken, pizza, and even eggs on a daily basis. It is exquisite and I've very glad to have made its acquaintance.

Warning: Highly Addictive
I ran upon this in the grocery store and it looked like it would be good. I love spicy sauces.I thought it would be good but this is WOW! It isn't just a hot sauce, it has flavor. It is so good. It's good on chicken and eggs. It is out of this world on cottage cheese, sounds like a strange combo but I haven't tried anything that it tasted so good on, the cool of the cottage cheese, the heat of the chili sauce, yum!It does have a good bit of heat to it. I have to have something close by to drink because it does burn the tongue a little.I'm addicted now and will be a lifelong lover of this chili sauce. I find myself looking through the refrigerator just looking for something to put my chili sauce on.Yes, it's that good.

Gotta go with the Rooster!
I have been eating this stuff for a decade and a half, ever since I worked in a teriyaki restaurant slinging yakisoba and udon soup bowls at the tender age of 18. There are lots of good reviews on this product already and I agree with all of them... this stuff is HOT but also TASTY. I ALWAYS have a bottle of this on hand. My latest favorite thing to do with this sauce is to mix it with an equal part of Frank's Red Hot and a splash of vinegar and use it to drown a plateful of pelmehni (Russian dumplings). That mixture, by the way, is also fantastic on wings. On it's own, Rooster sauce is a MUST for me in ANY curry... it adds heat and complements the flavor perfectly and I also love to drizzle a bit (just a bit) into my chicken soup (not weird....I used to dump truckloads of Rooster into my Udon noodle soup!). Really, the uses for the Rooster are endless.... but if you regularly cook things like stir fry or curry (any style) and you like a bit of kick.. this is a MUST HAVE pantry...

Unleashing the secret of Sriracha
I must admit I was not terribly familiar with the great "Sriracha" until I got this cookbook. I have already gone through almost a dozen recipes with one better than the other. Everyone should especially check out the Grilled Vegetable Salad recipe, it's to die for!!! That being said I have already begun incorporating Sriracha in every day use and am growing fonder of it by the day. This cookbook really offers the best of all worlds and the author really delivers recipes on anything you can think of and does it with a great story and some heart behind it. The pictures are very vibrant and Mr. Clemens shining personality comes out with each recipe. This is a definite pick up can be a great buy or gift for anyone.

Great idea for a gift!
I bought this for my impossible-to-shop-for brother and added some much needed housewares items to create a "guy gift set". I think this would make a really cool housewarming/ hostess gift too. I added a bottle of Sriracha sauce, some chop stick sets, four bowls, four pint glasses (probably the only matching dishes he owns now) and of course his favorite beer. Needless to say he loved it! Next time I'm over, he's doing all the cooking. And i have to be honest, I'm also excited to try some of the cocktail recipes.

pretty basic for Rooster afficianados
Its a nice book with a humorous voice. It provides a short history of how the sauce came to be ubiquitous (I didn't know it is made in LA with jalepenos - assumed it was imported with more exotic chiles) which you could probably find on wikipedia.If you already know how to cook you don't really need this book, because its basically a lot of fairly straightforward American dishes with Sriracha sauce added. It is not a Thai cookbook, or a Vietnamese cookbook. The recipes are for dishes like mac and cheese, chili con carne, chicken wings, chowder, hamburgers, cheese logs! etc. There were a few more inventive recipes - esp. the salads and cocktails. My biggest takeaway will likely be Sriracha butter on popcorn.This book is best suited for someone who isn't a confident cook and loves Sriracha. Or someone who adores Sriracha and is looking for a few new ideas. Or someone who likes quirky cookbooks.

Excruciatingly good.
It's sooooooooooooo good. I love it. When I've finished a bottle, I have to remind myself to stop at the bottom of the bottle, because the plastic does not taste good. It tastes like plastic. And after you eat the plastic, you usually get down to the countertop. We have a cheap formica countertop and it tastes horrible. And beneath that is a particle board-type substance that is very dry. And it swells too. So when you get to the bottom of the bottle, where the sauce stops, stop and open a new bottle, then begin eating again. I'm currently working on a helmet that would hold 2 bottles (minimum) and dispense the crimson yumminess at my mere thought that some Sriracha might be nice. But it's ruined several T.V. remotes so far in testing. I know what you're thinking, but it takes weeks to get the smell out of your truck. So, for now, I'll continue my work, and most folks should just stick to normal containers.

This is the best Sriracha sauce EVER! The heat is addictive because there is also sweet, salty and notes of garlic and tanginess of vinegar in this sauce that just makes you want to tip the bottle and pour it in your mouth.I'm seriously considering trying this as a topping on vanilla ice cream just to see what it would be like to have the heat with the cool-down of dairy.   But, I love snackin' and snackin' loves me, well it loves my hips at least. Getting the opportunity to cook for a crowd is the most joyous time for me. Assuming you are in a moderate-winter area like the Maritime NW, I think the trick is what variety you plant. That sauce is incredible.
